This performance is driven by a shuffle rhythm that has withstood the test of time. It remains one of the most energetic rhythmic patterns of the blues. The structure of the chorus is not typical of a standard blues; however, the chords and the progression still lend themselves to blues melodic patterns and inflections. The result is a reaffirming statement of the cultural strength of the blues. The blues has proven to be the most enduring of all musical styles in both jazz and contemporary musical development.
